Oracle Web Server Manager Version 1.6.0
Release Notes
July 1998
NOTE: Oracle Web Server Manager and
Oracle Enterprise Manager are trademarks of Oracle Corporation.
General Information
Oracle Web Server Manager runs only
as an integrated application launchable from within Oracle Enterprise
Manager, it does not appear as an icon in any program group.
Oracle Web Server Manager will display
a network's available Application Servers in the Oracle Enterprise
Manager Navigator and enable their management via the Oracle Application
Manager pages.
Requirements
On the management console machine, Oracle
Web Server Manager requires: Oracle Enterprise Manager and a web
browser.
On the server node (managed node), Oracle
Web Server Manager requires: Oracle Web Server 2.0 or later and
an Oracle 8.0.3 or greater Intelligent Agent.
Additionally, the Oracle Web Server
Administration Listener (installed with the Web Server) must be
running on the server node for Oracle Web Server Manager to operate.
For OAS 4.0 the node manager must be available.
This version of Oracle Web Server Manager
is designed for use under the following operating systems: Windows
NT 4.0 or higher, Windows 95 and Windows 98.
Discovery of Application Servers and Launching OAS Manager Pages
After installing Oracle Web Server Manager,
the service discovery wizard must be run from the Oracle Enterprise
Manager console for Application Server discovery to take place.
No special information needs to be entered in the service discovery
wizard; Application Servers will be discovered along with any
Oracle databases or other discoverable services. If an Application
Server is installed on a node where services have already been
discovered, the 'refresh' feature of the service discovery wizard
will add the Application Server to the Oracle Enterprise Manager
Navigator.
All discovered Application Servers will
be shown under the Application Server container in the Oracle
Enterprise Manager Navigator. Highlighting a Application Server
and selecting the Quick Edit option from the Navigator menu (or
the menu that appears when right-clicking on the selected Application
Server) brings up the system's default web browser and a login
dialog box. The login information is required to connect to the
administration port of the Application Server (login credentials
and port number are set during Application Server installation).
When correct credentials are entered, the Application Server's
management pages will load in the system's default web browser.
