Network Manager v3.1.0.5.1 that are
not covered in formal documentation.

Documentation from version 3.1 of Network Manager is included with the installation of
Network Manager 3.1.0.5.1. Changes
to the product are covered in these release notes.

Oracle 7 RDBMS.
New Features And Changes For Network
Manager 3.1.0.5.1
>64 Conifgurable Nodes Per Community
To satisfy the needs of customers to create large network definitions,
the 64 nodes per community barrier has been lifted. The system resources
for each installation determines the number of configurable nodes.
>64 Configurable Databases Per Node
In concert with the above feature, Network Manager now allows more than 64
databases (services) to be configured on a single node. For each listener that is
configured only 64 databases can be
associated with it.
New Server Type: Windows NT
Windows NT has been added to the list of server types. The NT server type
can be selected when the user is configuring
a node.
Hyphenated Service Names
By default, Network Manager does not allow hyphens or dashes (-) in node
names and database names. To ignore dashes in names do the following before
configuring a network.
1) Go to Special in the main menu select the Preferences menu item.
2) Towards the bottom of the dialog, there is a checkbox labelled 'Allow for
hyphens...'. Check this box and
begin the configuration process.
Oracle Intelligent Agent
There is an additional field in the Oracle Intelligent Agent's 'General' property
page. The '7.3.3 or later' checkbox is checked for those users conifguring for Oracle
Enterprise Manager and using a later agent. See the Oracle Enterprise Manager Administrators
Guide for more information.
De-Support Of Server Manager
Support for Server Manager has been removed from Network Manager. The
login prompt and the 'Start Sever Manager'
menu item have been disabled in this release.
Oracle Names Parameters In names.ora
Due to the increasing size of network definitions, Oracle Names users may see
some parameters for Oracle Names written in names.ora. The names.domains parameter
maybe written out to the names.ora during
an Oracle Names/Database export.
Restrictions and Limitations
A customer has experienced a GPF when opening a relatively large network
definition stored in the database. The problem seems to be originate in the ROS layer
of Network Manager. Presently, no viable solution has been found. It is strongly
reccommended that any network definition
be saved to the file system.
Network Manager is has not been translated into other languages other than
U.S. English.
