Before installation, check the hardware and software requirements:

Before installation, check the Oracle Enterprise Manager pre-installation requirements.
Before installing the new version of Oracle Enterprise Manager:
Oracle Installer enables you to install, update, and remove Oracle8
Enterprise Edition products quickly. When you run Oracle Installer, a
dialog box displays installation options. When you select an option,
a group of products is automatically installed. The options that display
depend upon the operating system you are using.
The following tables list the components included in each option. The Custom option enables you to selectively install from a list of all products available for your operating system. See Chapter 2 of Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Getting Started for Windows NT for descriptions of each product.
The following products are installed if you select the Oracle8 Enterprise

1 The Oracle8 Cartridges and Options are not automatically installed. You must selectively install the Oracle8 Cartridges and Options for which you are licensed when prompted during installation.
When you select the Oracle8 Client option, you are prompted to install either of two suboptions:

Note:
Although the CD-ROM in your kit contains many Oracle products, you are only allowed to install those products for which you are licensed.

If you click Cancel in any Oracle Installer dialog box, Oracle Installer exits.
To install Oracle products:
The operating system automatically detects your Oracle8 Enterprise Edition for Windows NT CD-ROM. The Oracle8 Enterprise Edition -Autorun dialog box appears and prompts you to make a selection:
Attention:
Each time you insert your CD-ROM, the process described in Step 4 occurs. To restart Oracle Installer without removing and re-inserting your CD-ROM, select the drive to which the CD-ROM is mapped, and double-click SETUP.EXE.

The Oracle Installation Settings dialog box appears.
The Welcome to Oracle dialog box appears.

Any Oracle database Cartridges that you selected are also included in the starter database. |
Custom Configuration

Starts Oracle Database Assistant at the end of the installation process. This wizard helps you create a Typical or Custom database. The Typical option creates a standard database using default initialization parameter settings. The Custom option is only for users familiar with advanced database creation procedures. See Chapter 9, "Creating a Database", in Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Getting Started for Windows NT for additional information. |

Does not create a database but you may create your own database later. All other server components are installed. The None option is only for users familiar with advanced database creation procedures. If you intend installing the Oracle Parallel Server option, you must choose None. |
The Installing Legato Storage Manager dialog box appears.
The Installing Oracle Documentation dialog box appears.
Oracle8 Enterprise Edition installation continues. A progress bar appears, indicating the percentage completion of the installation. The Installation Completed dialog box appears.
The Oracle8 Client Configuration dialog box displays the Application User and Database Administator suboptions.

The Software Asset Manager window displays all products and packages available for installation:
The products/packages available to install are listed on the left side of the window. The Oracle products you have already installed appear on the right side of the window. To see a brief description of a component, click on the name of that component.
To select multiple products for installation, press the CTRL key as you make your selections.
Custom Installation continues. A progress bar appears, indicating the percentage completion of the installation.
If you decide not to install Legato Storage Manager while installing Oracle8 Enterprise Edition, you can manually install it at a later time.
To install Legato Storage Manager manually:
Navigate to the ORACLE_HOME\LEGATO directory, and double-click the LSMINST.EXE file icon.
The installation of Legato Storage Manager is silent (no dialog boxes will appear). When the installation is complete, by default the Legato Storage Manager is installed in the WIN32APP\NSR\BIN directory. The interface file ORASBT.DLL is installed in the WINNT\System32 directory.

where the semicolon (;) separates the new entry from the existing entries.

To remove Legato Storage Manager:

Note:
Select Complete Uninstall only if you want to remove all your database, index, and resource files.

The NetWorker Uninstaller removes Legato Storage Manager from your system.
To install Oracle7 Client software on Windows:
The Language dialog box appears.
The Oracle Installation Settings dialog box appears.
The Oracle7 Client dialog box appears.
If you selected the Oracle7 Client option, the Oracle7 Client dialog box displays the Application User and Network Manager suboptions.
The Installing Oracle Documentation dialog box appears.
If you selected the Custom Installation option follow the instructions in the section "Custom Installation".
To remove Oracle products:
Oracle Installer warns you of any product dependencies that can cause problems if particular products are removed, and prompts you to confirm the de-installation.
